President’s Day - School Holiday

On this Presidents Day, we focus on the Uniform Monday Holiday bill, passed into law by Congress in 1968 to allow workers to have a number of long weekends throughout the year. As the District readies itself for continued talks with workers represented by Local 99 of SEIU, we honor the bus drivers, campus security personnel, gardeners, custodians, cafeteria workers, teachers' aides whose work is critical to the safe and vibrant functioning of our local public schools. I will fight for every employee’s right to the dignity of an equitable living wage.
